Glossary of Psychic Terms

A
Astrology – A system where psychics use the movements of the planets through the constellations to predict human characteristics, tendencies and events.

Automatic Writing – writing through the subconscious mind without conscious thought, or through guided writing from the unknown.

C
Celestial – Pertaining to the sky or heavens.

Channeling – receiving information from an outside source.

Clairaudience – being able to perceive sounds which are not normally audible.

Clairsentience – ability to know an event, past, present or future via a feeling.

Clairvoyance – extrasensory perception of something beyond the five senses. The ability to access psychic information by using the sense of sight, including either external visions or internal images.

Déjà vu – The feeling that you’ve experience something before

Divination - to prophecy or foretell the future using the occult arts.

E
ESP – Extra Sensory Perception, perception beyond the normal senses.

F
Feyness – the possession of magical qualities; ability to see the future; often accompanied by an otherworldly air.

Fortune Telling – A common term in general use for the ability to foretell the future, popularly using a crystal ball.

H
Hiero - Scripting with automatic painting or drawing. The graphic version of automatic writing.

Healer – Someone skilled in the art of healing whether physical or emotional.

I
Intuitive – knowing, learning, acting or perceiving by intuition.

I Ching – Chinese numerological system based on hexagrams akin to astrology. Theme that all things run their course and change is immutable.

Incorporeal – having no body or form; having no material body or form

M
Medium – Someone who channels by relaying information from an outside source.

Mantra – A mantra is a sacred word or syllable repeated in prayer or meditation which is most commonly used in Buddhism or Hinduism.

Meditation – Meditation is the act of meditating. Meditating is a close or continued thought, revolving of a subject in your mind, serious contemplation, reflection, visualization or musing. There are many different ways and exercises for meditation. Many times mantras are used during meditation along with visualization to cause positive changes in one’s life.

Mystic – concerned with direct communication of the soul with God/Nature; of or relating to mysteries or esoteric rites

Numerology – A system where a psychic uses numbers derived from a person’s name and birth date to determine personal characteristics and karmic lessons from past lives and predict at what periods during that person’s life those issues will be most prominent.

P
Palmistry – art of telling fortunes from the lines, patterns and marks on the palms of an individual’s hands

Paranormal – not scientifically explainable; supernatural

Portend – to give an omen or anticipatory sign of; indicate, signify

Precognition – seeing ahead in time, a premonition of an event or something that will happen in the future.

Prediction – prophecy, foretelling; something that is forecast

Premonition – previous notice or warning; anticipation of an event without conscious reason; forewarning

Prophesy – to predict a future event under the influence of divine guidance.

Psyche – spirit, soul or mind

Psychometry - divining knowledge about an object or a person connected with it through contact with the object.

Psychokinesis – ability to move objects with the mind.

Remote Viewing – to be able to see, describe a person, place or thing without being in their presence.

Rune Stones – A method using stone, wood or clay inscribed with letters from an ancient Nordic alphabet to predict the outcome of specific events, used by our psychics who are specifically trained in the interpretation of Runes.

Santeria – An African-based religion similar to voodoo, originating in Cuba and Brazil, which combines the worship of traditional Yoruban deities with the worship of Roman Catholic saints.

Selenology – a branch of astronomy that deals with the moon

Spirit Guide – A spirit guide is meant to advise you and lead you on your life path. These spirits are with everyone and are there for your own good and will never give you “bad” advice. Unfortunately most people cannot hear their guides. Many psychics are able to communicate with your guides for you and pass their messages onto you.

Telekinesis – the ability to move objects with physical contact

Telepathy - mind to mind communication.

Trans-Medium Channel - a consciousness enters into the human being and communicates through that person

Warlock - Warlock is the word used to describe a male witch.

Wicca - A polytheistic Neo-Pagan nature religion inspired by various pre-Christian western European beliefs, whose central deity is a mother goddess and which includes the use of herbal magic and benign witchcraft.

Witch – A witch is a generalized word used to describe a believer or follower of Wicca.

Z
Zodiac – Imaginary area in the heavens centred on the ecliptic encompassing the apparent paths of all the planets except Pluto. It is divided into 12 constellations or signs that are very familiar.
